Developing Clinical Specialist in Pain (ref: SOPS029)


About the role –

Connect are looking for a well-organised and conscientious Clinician with an interest in developing a specialism in Persistent Pain to deliver quality clinical care of musculoskeletal conditions for patients as part of a full MSK Community Services Pathway. The role is based in Hammersmith and Fulham, with the main site being Charing Cross Community Hospital.
Connect Health and Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust have jointly re-designed the pain service pathway. You will work alongside both the community MSK service (Rehabilitation Therapists, Physio’s, ESP’s and Consultant Physiotherapist) and Hospital-based Pain service (Consultants, Nurses, Psychology) in an MDT way.
The role is focused on assessment and management of medium-high risk patients within the community setting. You will be skilled in the bio-psychosocial assessment and management of patients with persistent pain.
You will develop and influence the design of the service, including delivery of pain management programs in the community and collaboration with online and digital pain management solutions, ensuring you maintain strong relations with the existing service provision within the hospital.
Whilst undertaking comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of patients with a wide variety of physical and emotional needs, you must formulate, deliver, review and progress individual treatment programmes and ensure effective treatment, specialist advice and timely discharge is achieved.
Developing and promoting a positive and dynamic image and culture, you must foster productive relationships with key stakeholders such as local Consultants, GP’s and corporate client sites and provide support and training to junior staff and Physiotherapy students.

Who we’re looking for –

You will be positive, constructive and approachable, along with being registered with the HCPC, a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), if relevant, and a fully qualified Physiotherapist. We are looking for you to be capable of managing a varied caseload of MSK patients, you will have the ability to work under pressure and be committed to CPD.
We are looking for you to have the desire to facilitate improvement in both self and service, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate confidently and effectively with both patients and colleagues alike.
You may have experience of working within the NHS or it may be in the public or private sector, however it is more about you and the skills you can bring to Connect.

Please note that the successful candidate will need to undergo an Enhanced Check including barring lists under the Disclosure and Barring Service paid for by Connect.
